The Australian Belly Dance Convention was born from the want to help promote an environment of support, celebration and education for the belly dance communities of Australia. For it’s first year, we’ve selected the amazing Merri-bek suburb of Brunswick to bring together past, current and future dancers (pro and hobbyist) to celebrate all things bellydance through movement and knowledge sharing sessions and open to the public performances! Come and see what belly dancing is all about with our Belly Dance 101 session, learn more about body positivity or dancing as a mature dancer, learn history about dance in pharaonic times or even learn valuable TikTok and stage skills! Finish the weekend off with Open Stage performances from local dancers and groups while you browse the amazing range of market stalls full of all sorts of homewares, jewellery and so much more.
