The annual Victorian observance of the United Nations Day of Vesak sees Victoria’s multicultural Buddhist community from different traditions come together in a Friendship Walk.
This amazing multicultural procession is a rare sight for visitors to the city and passers-by, with people in flowing robes and national dress, drums and huge flags.
The grand procession through the city starts at Parliament Garden and travels along Collins Street, finishing at Melbourne Town Hall to the beat of welcoming drums.
Stay on to see the 21 giant Taras (goddesses) thangka on display in the Town Hall.
