3ZZZ goes into all the news and upcoming games for the Men’s and Women’s 2023 NPL Victoria season.

On Friday night, Heidelberg and North Geelong Warriors had a one all draw. And Oakleigh Cannons easily surpassed Altona Magic 5-1. On Saturday Avondale continued their impressive run by beating St. Albans 4-0. Bentleigh won away 3-2 against Hume City. Dandenong Thunder won in a close one against Moreland City 3-2. And on Monday, Melbourne Knights also defeated Green Gully 3-2.

Also on Monday night, 3ZZZ was present to broadcast the ANZAC Day eve match between South Melbourne and Port Melbourne at Lakeside Stadium.

South Melbourne took the lead early in the match with a goal by Max Mikkola.

Just a few minutes later, Ajak Riak headed a beautifully weighed cross to make it 2-0 in the space of 10 minutes.

Later there was another dangerous ball into the box which was latched onto by Josh Wallen who thundered the ball into the back of the net to make it 3-0.

Just before half time, Port Melbourne finally responded with a well timed header by Fletcher McFarlane to make it 3-1 before the break.

In the 77th minute Max Mikkola yet again added his name to the score sheet with a cheeky chip over goalkeeper Andrew Withers to make it 4-1 to South Melbourne.

Port Melbourne super sub Dor Jok made an immediate impact with a stunning goal to make it 4-2 in the 79th minute.

Near the end of the match South Melbourne’s Andy Brennan went on a run to score an amazing individual goal to make it 5-2 to South Melbourne.

Brennan’s outstanding goal was the perfect full stop to what was a high scoring encounter were South Melbourne ran away winners 5-2.

The ladder has no change in the top six with Avondale on top, followed by South Melbourne, Oakleigh Cannons,Melbourne Knights, Green Gully and Altona Magic. Hume City are seventh, followed by Dandenong Thunder, Port Melbourne, Heidelberg United, Moreland City, St. Albans, Bentleigh Greens and North Geelong.

For round 11, on Friday night Green Gully hosts Dandenong Thunder, and Heidelberg faces Moreland City. On Saturday Avondale takes on Oakleigh Cannons. North Geelong encounters St. Albans. Port Melbourne hosts Bentleigh Greens. On Sunday to finish off the round, it’s Melbourne Knights versus Hume City and South Melbourne up against Altona Magic.

For the NPLW, on Saturday, South Melbourne defeated Box Hill 1-0. Alamein were too good for FV Emerging winning 3-1. Bayside United surpassed Bulleen 2-0. And to finish the round, Heidelberg and Preston drew 1 all.

For the NPLW ladder Boroondara have now jumped on top, followed by Preston Lions, Alamein, South Melbourne, Heidelberg United and Bayside United make the top 6. Then we have Bulleen Lions, FV Emerging, Calder United, Box Hill and Southern United making up the rest of the ladder.

For the upcoming NPLW games for round 7. On Friday it’s Box Hill versus Bulleen, and Preston faces FV Emerging.On Saturday Calder United hosts Heidelberg. Boroondara is on the road against Southern United. And to finish, on Sunday South Melbourne encounters Alamein.
