On Friday night, Green Gully made light work of Moreland City at home, easily winning 6-2. On Saturday Port Melbourne surpassed St. Albans 2-1. Hume City and South Melbourne had a goalless draw, nil all. Avondale won away to Dandenong Thunder 3-1. On Sunday, Altona defeated Heidelberg at Olympic Park 2-1. And on Monday, Melbourne Knights defeated a spirited North Geelong 3-2. And Oakleigh Cannons were too good for Bentielgh Greens, winning 3-0.
The ladder has Avondale still on top, followed by South Melbourne, Oakleigh Cannons, Green Gully, Melbourne Knights and Port Melbourne to finish the top 6. Altona Magic jump to seventh, followed by Hume City, Heidelberg United, Moreland City, St. Albans, Dandenong Thunder, Bentleigh Greens and North Geelong make up the rest.
For round 9, on Friday night Green Gully hosts Hume City. On Saturday Altona Magic takes on St. Albans. North Geelong is at home to Dandenong Thunder. Avondale is at home against Heidelberg United. Moreland City hosts Melbourne Knights. South Melbourne faces Bentleigh Greens. And to finish off the round, Oakleigh Cannons hosts Port Melbourne.
For the NPLW, on Friday, it was a goalfest as Senior NTC and Bayside United drew 4 all. On Saturday, Bulleen defeated South Melbourne at Lakeside 3-1. Heidelberg held on to win 3-2 at home to Box Hill. Preston Lions were too good for Southern United winning 3-0. And to finish the round, Boroondara beat Alamein 3-0
For the NPLW ladder Boroondara have now jumped on top, followed by Heidelberg United, Preston Lions, Alamein, Bulleen and South Melbourne make the top 6. Then we have Bayside, Box Hill, Senior National Training Center, Calder United and Southern United making up the rest of the ladder.
For the upcoming NPLW games for round 5. On Friday it’s Senior NTC versus Box Hill. On Saturday, South Melbourne takes on Bayside United. Southern United faces Calder United away. Heidelberg United takes on Alamein. And to finish, Boroondara hosts Preston Lions.
