3ZZZ TODAY & CHALLENGES FOR THE FUTURE
At 3ZZZ, we believe that radio is about everything that affects our lives, and
everything human beings and their society aspires to. The challenge for 3ZZZ is to
better inform and enable people to become involved in the affairs of the nation, of the
world, of their own ethnic community; in the social, cultural, political, educational,
work and settlement related arena; promoting culture and language, maintaining links
with the country of our origin, learning from others and respecting their cultures,
languages and traditions.
3ZZZ is an active and vibrant multicultural institution where people from all over the
globe come together to share ideas and work together as a team both on air and off.
The groups of broadcasters here at 3ZZZ act as a voice for their communities living in
Melbourne, allowing listeners to be part of an ethnic Australia. The 3ZZZ listeners
enjoy being able to hear news from aboard, community announcements and music in
other languages.
With the more recent appearance of government-favoured commercial ethnic radio,
the significance of 3ZZZ as the ethnic community's own radio station is becoming
increasingly more important, as we are independent of government and business, and
are run along democratic principles.
Making programs even more in line with the lives and aspirations of women and men
of all generations; involving more young people, more women, and newly-arrived
immigrants and emerging communities is the challenge 3ZZZ is trying to meet. To be
relevant and successful now, and in the years ahead.
